Camping Kuukiuru In Finnish Lapland
45 miles by road north of the Arctic Circle, the campsite is on the west bank of the major River Kemi, 20 miles north of Kemijarvi and 50 miles south of Sodankyla. At 66.981 degrees North and 27.533 degrees East, it is parallel with the south coast of Greenland and nearer to Murmansk than Helsinki.
Lost in Finland's endless forest, among its 187,888 lakes
The owner/managers are Russian with a little grasp of English: 'Twenty Euros' and 'No Problem' is enough to get by, although a little frustrating as there is much we would like to learn about their great country. (They do recognise 'Gorbachev', 'Yeltsin', 'Putin' and we got a big reaction to 'Joseph Stalin'.
