Memories of Old Methoni
Methoni is a small fishing port in the far south western corner of the Greek Peloponnese. It has a good beach, a small harbour, offshore islands and a Venetian/Turkish castle stretching for nearly one kilometre along its own peninsula. There is a town hall where we were married and a heritage of old buildings showing a strong Turkish influence in their facades. Almost all have a balcony of wood or iron, however rudimentary.
The following 28 photographs were taken in one visit along the two roads shown on the map below. There is no new building; the old houses form a continuous line with their refurbished neighbours, working now as shops, offices and residences for the community.
